Sliding Rock

We took the kids to Sliding Rock in Alpine the morning of the 24th. It has become a new family tradition to go for a hike that day. All the kids were excited to try the slide, and everyone took a turn riding on George's lap...
...but even then, the water was a little too cold.
The boys, however, had no trouble going down by themselves.
In the end it was a great way to cool off.

24th of July

For the 24th we went to our annual block party. It's a tradition that Charakie participate in the pie eating contest. Even though we brought boccoli salad to the party, we left with our fair share of sugar. Bring on the diabetes!
Oh. And we also held an eating relay to raise awareness for chilhood obesity. Ironic?

We made sure EVERYONE participated.

Sorenson Reunion

The Christensen's set up an amazing obstacle course for the kids and the adults. This is Cambrie finishing the army crawl.
Drew being all he can be in his army helmet.
Surprisingly, none of the kids were scared of the tight rope. Paul gave us all an excellent demonstration of what NOT to do, so they were set.
If you look closely you can see the leech attaching itself to my left foot.
Just before I realized my blood was being drained from me by a blood-sucking annelid.

Sorenson Reunion 2

Our family name for the reunion was "MASH," or "Members Against Skits and Horseshoeing." We definitely had the best t-shirts, but our cadence needed a little work. Our three beautiful children. I think they would all get kicked out of the army.
Nothin' like some rompin' in the forest.
Nights and mornings in the Gordon-Smith/Gines tent were interesting. We're glad we camped far enough away to dampen some of the noise. Don't be fooled by their cute smiles; they're demons.
The scenery in and around Monroe mountain was amazing. There were lots of small lakes and plenty of trails for four-wheeling. We were glad to be able to spend so much time with the Sorensons.

Sorenson Reunion 3

Cambrie and George went for a little Kayak ride on the lake. We were amazed at how well she did for her first time; she wan't scared at all. She even beat George in a race to shore.
Our family canoe ride was rather anticlimactic. The kids were done after about fifteen minutes.
Be very careful when you tell Max he's handsome; he may take it the wrong way. I had to get a new camera lens after this shot!
Drew and Cambrie loved catching fish with the Sorenson crew. This reunion was so well organized, there was time for everything and activities for everyone. It's just too bad Zach and Jamie weren't able to catch anything. :)

Echo Triathlon

George, out of the water twenty-five mintues after the start.
Smooth transition
Strong finish...
All for a sweet kiss at the end of the race.

The Mitchells joined us on our camping trip to Coalville for the Echo Tri. It was great to have all the grandkids together: Max, Tanzynn, Cambrie, Ty, and Drew.

Boating with the Gordon-Smiths

We went boating with George's family and the kids had a blast! We don't get to see the Gordon -Smith's much because they live all over the world...we enjoyed spending time with them over the 4th of July.
George and his brothers were racing with the kids on their backs. This is George DRAGGING Cambrie to the finish line...he was NOT going to lose :)
Wow Richard...there are no words!

George and I on the tube. They tried very hard to get us to flip over but we managed to stay on...so much fun.

Gines Family Reunion

When we go anywhere with the Gines family the adults are always outnumbered...Cambrie is the oldest of 18+ grandchildren (I've lost track) It makes for a lot of fun when we get together and I'm so glad our kids have cousins to be close to. I was very close to my cousins growing up and most of my childhood memories are of time spent with them. I hope our kids will stay close to all their cousins and always cherish those relationships. Thanks to Brent and Caren for going to all the hard work of making sure these reunions happen!

Gines Family Reunion

Triathletes in training

Drew and Max get plenty of practice riding bikes and running at home. I told them if they want to do triathlons like George they are going to have to work on their swimming also. So, if we aren't at the pool they throw on their caps and swim down the stairs...so awesome!

BAM Triathlon

George is an olympic distance triathlete so we have been busy this summer supporting his races. This tri was in Midway and is our favorite venue so far. We took Cambrie with us and camped the night before in Midway. Brie and I had so much fun cheering him on at his transition areas and the venue was breathtaking! We'll be there next year for sure!

Our Wedding

George and I were married in March but the weather was horrible so we had to go back to the temple in June to take pictures. Thanks to Sierra King who came to the temple to play with the kids while we took photos of just George and I. Thank you also to my sister Cortney who gets all the credit for the photography...she's amazing!

The kids did great but by the time we were done shooting with them we were exhausted!
