My friend Kenon was here from Virginia a couple weeks ago so we got together and made gingerbread houses with the kids. What exactly do you do with them once your done? We ended up giving ours to our cute little elderly neighbor...we left it on the door step and ran so there was no possibility of her giving it back :) So much fun to have them here...we miss them TERRIBLY!!! I know, I know! Why you ask am I getting my picture taken with Cosmo? Look, it was a family Christmas party so I had to cooperate...you can see the discomfort on my face though, there is no smiling for me when standing next to a COUGAR!At least we're all wearing the right color :) Max and Drew had their pre-school Christmas program and it was so great! They sang their little hearts out...hats off to Learning Dynamics for a job well done. Happy Christmas! P.S. We've been Elfed...check it out athttp://elfyourself.jibjab.com/view/jtIZ9BxvKzBN0s3xsfUT
lindseyy." class="pc_img" height="180" width="240"> AAAAHHHH! I am relieved that this week is over. It started with me getting a chest cold and I wanted to stay in bed for a week. However, I had to move into UVU for the week to study. My math final was on Tuesday and after about 8 hours of studying, I took it and it went well. I then had two days to study for my Geography final as well as my Geology final...plenty of time. Oh, don't be fooled, I actually missed my Geography final! It's true, I thought it was on Thursday but it was on Tuesday...nightmare. I was able to take it today anyway so it all worked out in the end; pretty sure my professor has compassion on me because I was in over my head this semester. Now I am going to go eat PIZZA with my family and NOT do homework! So excited for the down-time!
George turned the big 30 on Friday. HAPPY BIRTHDAY BABE! The kids wanted to take him bowling so we invited the rest of the family too as a little surprise. I joke about not wanting to be seen in a bowling alley but the truth is...we love it and always say we should do it more whenever we go. The kids wrote the top 30 things they love about George on a poster for him...here are a few of the highlights:
1. We love his bones 2. We love his HUGE muscles 3. We love his fancy pants 4. He has nice shirts 5. He wrestles with us 6. He loves us 7. Pajama elevator 8. Spider man flights 9. He reads to us 10. He always puts us first
Everyone has a story: life experiences that have either strengthened us or made us weaker and have defined who we really are. Our story is no different; George and I were both married previously to very wonderful people who changed our lives and helped us become who we are. We each suffered a tremendous loss when our spouses (Joel and Summer) died of cancer leaving us with an unfinished story of the lives we had imagined. Through the grief, loneliness, suffering, and pain we both realized that our stories were being revised and that Summer and Joel were helping in that process.
George and I met in March of 2007. We dated for a year and it was a wonderful year full of compassion, empathy, healing, and love. My dad often talks about the tender mercies of the Lord and we both know that our lives have been touched by these tender mercies in ways we never dreamed possible.
We were married on March 1, 2008 in the Salt Lake Temple. The new revisions in our story may seem complicated but to us it's rather simple. Our kids know how much we love each other and are so happy to be a complete famiy again. They also know that "daddy Joel" and "mommy Summer" are a big part of our lives and that families are eternal and we will see them again someday. George and I often joke that "we are blessed....we think!," but the truth is we have been blessed beyond measure. We've had our trials and there are still sad days but we have each other to lean on. We now havesomeone to share things with--it feels so good to love again!
