Barcelona

We went to Barcelona for a day while in Spain. The train ride was the highlight for the kids but the highlight for me was the famous...
Sagrada Familia. This is a temple designed by Antoni Gaudi, and is one of his most famous works in Barcelona. NO KIDDING! This temple is unbelievable. It's been under construction since 1882 and is STILL under construction. We saw a few Gaudi creations while in Barcelona and each of them are equally as brilliant. His work is so unique, we could have spent hours at the Sagrada Familia had we not had the little ones :)

Most of Gaudi's work was inspiried by nature. In the above photo, you can see how he has designed the pillars to look like trees with limbs branching off near the top. How great to be so talented that people come from all over the world to see your ideas. Amazing!
The stained glass windows are breathtaking. Look at all the people staring up in total awe.
My boys won't remember this and to be honest, they weren't all that impressed. However, I think Cambrie was impressed and hopefully she'll always be grateful for the opportunity she's had to see Gaudi's work. I know I will.

This was my favorite spot in Barcelona as well. I loved how each side was different. Now a days when everything is so formal and standard its amazing to see something so ornate. Glad you are having fun. I must admit I am so stinkin jealous. Your kids are so lucky and hopefully the traveling bug will have bit them! Enjoy!
