Boosterthon Fun Run

Duncan Creek Elementary just did the most amazing fund raiser. I went to the school to see the kick-off rally and I felt like I was sitting at a Jazz half-time show...not exaggerating! The guys who own this company are brilliant and they earn every penny they make. They come to your school for NINE days and are socializing with the kids every day while handing out prizes for every pledge the kids get. They keep the kids so pumped up and motivated to get more pledges...my kids thought they were super stars. Then, on the ninth day, they do the Fun Run. Basically, everyone who pledges pays the child $1 or more per lap and the most laps they can run is 35. Our school raised $30,000 and that is after all the expenses were paid. CRAZY!
The kids were treated like stars and they really had so much fun with this fund raiser. Each student got a shirt to wear on the fun run day. You can see Max running through this tunnel and they also had music playing the whole time. I could hear the music from my house, they were living it up!
Fun Run staff explaining to the ropes to the kindergartners and first graders. See the teacher in the plaid shorts getting down? That's Mrs. Fugaro, Max's teacher...she's a hoot.
Max was ALL business! I kept trying to get his attention but he was in a zone the whole time. They ran for thirty minutes and it was over 90 degrees that day. Max exceeded the cap amount for laps running 44 laps...over two miles. He ran the most in his class. He'll be our track and field star!
Drew was also all business, however, he looked for me every lap to make sure I was still watching. He also exceeded the cap by running 39 laps. They were so hot but ran their little hearts out.
Mitchell begging to get out of his stroller and run a few laps too :)
Cool down.
This is Cambrie and her friend Elizabeth. Unfortunately, I didn't get to see Brie run because I thought they were all running at the same time and I was wrong. I'm learning a lot being part of a new school and I feel like half the time I have no idea what's going on. I felt so bad! She had a good time though and ended up running 36 laps. What a neat fund raiser. It was a week and a half of partying and they earned an amazing amount of money for their school.
The reward for running over two miles in the middle of the afternoon in 90 degree weather. So NOT worth it :)
